Jackass
Lately me and my friends have been watching all of the old jackass episodes as well as movies 1,2 and 2.5. I am obsessed, I understand many people think what they do is stupid but it sure is entertaining. I mean if you can get paid, for riding down streets in shopping carts, and snorting wasabi why not right? I'm sure they all have serious medical issues due to half of the stunts they pull, for example Steve-O himself has what, 40 of the 48 STDs that are out there, the majority of which he probably didn't get from intercourse but probably from butt chugging beer, or snorting an earth worm and pulling it out of his mouth. I know I'm being a little graphic, but they all actually do all this shit and it airs and they actually get paid. Steve-O said this was the only option for him really, he hates school and work and he loves to make people laugh so this seemed perfect. He actually dropped out of college within the first year and went to join the Ringaling Brothers Circus College and graduated there, only to be denied by the circus. Honestly, I don't know about eating leeches or sitting in a used porta potty, but I would not mind doing stunts and risking hurting myself as a career. Half the stunts they do look awesome and are probably a lot of fun, even if you hurt yourself you can say you did it and have it on tape for all to see. I think what they do is HILARIOUS and it is honestly my dream to meet one of them. I know they say before each episode "don't try this at home," but after watching it so much recently I've become inspired so don't be surprised if you see me on the next jackass or more likely in the hospital. They are actually coming out with a jackass 3 soon which I am stoked for, everything they do is funny so this movie will probably be a hoot. I'm excited and I recommend everyone go see it when it hits theaters and support my future husband Steve-O.

Corrrtacacaaaaaa
Today is the most popular holiday celebrated at Suny Cortland. It’s the big game, Cortland vs Ithaca.. That is why I have started to write this so late, because I was so busy celebrating for the game. Unfortunately Cortland lost and it was a close game, it was intense, and I could feel the pressure the football players had, with screaming fans praying that they will make the first down. One side of the stadium bled the color red, with the opposite side was filled by a dull blue and a yellow that didn’t shine quite as bright as the sun. But no matter what, as Cortland always says “win or lose we still booze,” and that is exactly what the entire school intends on doing. No matter the time, no matter the score, we will still have a good time and that’s what I love about Cortland. The school spirit in this town is amazing and I enjoy every minute of helping keep the school spirit level at its all time high. Cortaca is so ridiculous, and when I tell my friends what I’m doing for the day they always repeat themselves and ask again, what Im doing for the day. Then I tell them the true definition of what Cortaca is and they love the entire concept. That is why tons of my friends always try and visit during this insanely crazy weekend. I honestly might say that I Love this holiday more than Christmas and I’m so extremely excited to be a part of this celebration. Sadly we did lose but like I said we still get to booze, because nothing can break Cortland’s sprit or pride no matter the number of points on the score board. Thank god I am a part of a school full of pride and respect for each other.

Food
I recently had some sort of epiphany. I've been on and off diets trying to keep a toned body, but I realized this past weekend (after being home and around my Italian grandma), I love food. Why diet when there's exercise to keep you in shape. I'm pretty busy with school and everything but there is always time to go to the gym, at least an hour or more everyday. So why can't I just eat whatever I want to, as much as I want to and still stay in shape? I guess I can, and it's not really as hard as I thought. As long as I choose the right foods and not go completely overboard, I should be fine. I mean, when I first came to Cortland, I was chowing down on every carb known to man at Neubig, at the grill getting an All American Burger, or a buffalo chicken wedge from Racquet, and basically every night you would see my at Friendlys. I began to substitute all of those delicious meals with salads and water. Now I LOVE soda, and ice cream and that buffalo chicken sandwich is my weakness, but if I went to the gym I wouldn't have to completely get rid of those foods and I can have them on occasion. I mean why get rid of things you love in your life when there are other options. My moms side of the family is Italian and that’s definitely where I got my love for food, I can cook pretty decently when I try, so why throw out my food loving heritage and my skills for cooking because I’m scared I’ll gain weight? Screw it, I would rather have a toned and athletic body and be able to eat what I want then be skinny and fragile and eat lettuce for lunch and dinner. I love chocolate, I love pizza, I LOVE mashed potatoes and I LOVE mac and cheese. They are probably some of the worst’s foods for you, but I still love them… so I refuse to forget about them completely. I’m going to be smarter with what I eat, and if I can’t make it to the gym one day, maybe that will be the day where I have salad for lunch rather then a pasta bake. Smart and healthy decisions will lead you down a smart and healthy path.

Tupac
There is so much conspiracy around Tupac’s death; I honestly believe he’s truly dead. Why would he fake his death? And all of the “proof” people say they have is never accurate or factual whatsoever. I'm a huge Tupac fan, and when I ask the question “Biggie or Tupac?” I often get Biggie responses and just shake my head. It's not that I don't like Biggie, believe me he's amazing but Tupac brings something so much more to the table and his ideas have so much more meaning behind them, for me at least. One of my entire walls is decorated with Tupac pictures and poems. I have over 200 songs and counting as well as his book of poems called The Rose That Grew From Concrete. He has a song called Changes, Until the end of time, California love (hence my California blog), Do for love; all of which have so much meaning to them as well as the additional fact that the beats are awesome. Some of the ideas that he has come up with are so simple, but the way he states them in his lyrics or in his poems make you look at that simple idea in a totally different way. I wish he were still alive; I would absolutely die to go to a Tupac concert, that’s one thing I would love to go back in time and do asap. I hope no one reading has anything against Tupac because he is literally one of my idols and he looked at life in a way only seriously intelligent and open-minded people can see it and I admire him for sharing his ideas through his music and poetry. For those of you who haven’t heard Tupac, ummmm yeah, but for those of you who hardly listen or don’t know too much stuff by or about him I seriously suggest that you download, or no, BUY some of his music and look up a poem or two of his. With some of his poetry you actually have to stop and really think to fully understand the meaning. Some of his poems I still don’t FULLY understand to this day, but each time I read them I try to find something new to interpret. And I’m sure a lot of you have heard his music, but next time you listen to one of his songs really HEAR it and listen to the lyrics word for word, some of what his says is extremely insightful. I definitely like to think a lot and I tend over think things way too often that is one of the main reasons I love him. Tupac makes me think with the ideas he has and the way he phrases them. I can tell that he had a mind somewhat like mine, that often wandered deep into so many different concepts about life, love and everything else that’s essential and meaningful to us.

Time
Time is the indefinite continued process of existents and events in the past, present, and future regarded as a whole. Time is everything, and at the same times its nothing. Without time where would we be exactly? How could anything be, without the idea of time? But do we think too much of time sometimes, or take it too seriously? Sometimes I feel like we abuse its existents by sitting around doing absolutely nothing with our lives, and time is treated like nothing. Imagine if all of the clocks in the world stopped working and there was absolutely no way to tell time, no sun clocks, nothing. Everything would turn chaotic and nothing would be organized and settled down. Time can be the answer to a lot of questions and worries as well. It’s true that everything will happen in time, and time really does heal all. As much as people want to say nothing will change, I will never be where I want to be, none of that is ever true if you actually want it. Time is indefinite, as stated in it’s own definition. It will never end, as long as you are here time continues as does everything that moves along with it and you will have endless chances. Everything that should and can happen will happen eventually. Whether it’s for the best or the worst, it will happen because as times goes on change must occur, its inevitable. When has anyone had a day exactly the same? Even if you have the same classes, same practice and same dinner, there is still something that is different from the day before. And as time goes on so does life, it’s an ongoing cycle, that for you, personally will never end. Without time there would be no past, no future. Each second that is passing by would not be there without the concept of time. Without time, there would be no yesterday or last week. It's such a weird concept to think about, but time is everything. Each minute, is a minute either used to the fullest extent, or wasted on nothing. I guess that’s why you often hear "live in the moment," "live each minute like it’s your last," and all those other 'time is of the essence' quotes. Their smart, why not listen to them? If you use each minute for something productive, something you want to do, whether its right or wrong its part of time and the continuing process. Everything happens for a reason and with every action there is a reaction. So stop taking time for granted, and realize that it’s everything, you will end up doing more with the time you have now, and things will more likely end up as they should much quicker.

The OFfice
The Office, a show on NBC, is probably the best show ever made. I could sit and watch the same episodes over and over again. The kind of comedy they use in this show is something that not everyone agreed is funny. You have to have a certain sense of humor in order to understand it, but if you do, you would probably agree with me that this is one of the best series created. I’m not sure which actually came first, but there is also a British version of The Office which I have to say is just as hilarious. The actors they picked fit the characters perfectly and couldn’t do a better job at playing their roles. They use everyday comedy and incorporate it into the show, like “that’s what she said” for example. Steve Carell, who in my opinion might be the funniest one, is the office manager and basically the star of the show. I’m sure everyone has heard of him before, from “The 40 year old Virgin,” “Little Miss Sunshine,” “Get Smart,” “Dan in Real Life,” “Anchorman,” and many more. Without him, the show would not be what it is. It really wouldn’t be as good if any of the characters left. You have Oscar, Kevin, and Angela in accounting. Each have completely clashing personalities so if you were to take one away, it wouldn’t be as stable. Then you have Dwight, and Jim who have had a rivalry since day one so in order for one to be noticeably funny you would definitely need the other. Then Pam, Phyllis and Meredith are the rest of the girls in the office. Talk about clashing personalities; Pam is completely normal, Phyllis is a little slow, kind of like a crazy grandmother, and Meredith is a raging alcoholic. Creed is an old man with a seriously insane history of starting riots, doing drugs, and blackmailing people to get money for a toy helicopter. Ryan, the temp, who is actually BJ Novak in real life and actually writes the majority of the shows, became the youngest manager of the branch and then pleads guilty to fraud and went from being, wealthy and on top, to the office’s receptionist. As you can see the show is drama FULL and every moment, no matter how sad, how awkward or mean you may think it is they always find a way to make it humorous. I have never once watched the show and been quiet for more then 5 minutes, there is never a dull moment.

In the Depths of Solitude- Tupac Amaru Shakur
In The Depths of Solitude i exist in the depths of solitude
pondering my true goal
trying 2 find peace of mind
and still preserve my soul
constantly yearning 2 be accepted
and from all receive respect
never comprising but sometimes risky
and that is my only regret
a young heart with an old soul
how can there be peace
how can i be in the depths of solitude
when there r 2 inside of me
this duo within me causes
the perfect oppurtunity
2 learn and live twice as fast
as those who accept simplicity
Tupac Shakur
“In the Depths of Solitude” is a poem written by Tupac Shakur. It is written about himself for himself, as it states under the title, “In the depths of solitude/Dedicated 2 me.” It takes time to be able to comprehend this poem and it may be close to impossible for some to even grasp. This is one of my all time favorite poems because of how complex it really is and the fact that I can personally relate to it. Tupac explains how he is “in the depths of solitude/pondering my true goal/trying to find peace of mind/and still preserve my soul,” saying that it is hard to settle down and find peace while at the same time maintain your soul. That is where people often go wrong and because Tupac managed to do both, he had the luxury of never being lonely and being in a much deeper state of mind. There is a reason that the poem is called “In the Depths of Solitude” and not just “In Solitude.” Being in a state of solitude defines being alone, but being in the depths of solitude opens a door to a whole new world. Tupac took a very intricate idea and managed to fit it all in a sixteen-line poem that turned out remarkable.
This poem explains that how it is possible to be alone without creating boundaries and being isolated. This poem proves that being in a state of solitude means being alone, but being in the depths of solitude is where the minds of more complex individuals lie. Tupac explains how being in this state is often frustrating, but being too over demanding of others won’t better the situation. The first line “I exist in the depths of solitude/ pondering my true goal/trying 2 find peace of mind/and still preserve my soul,” is something many people can relate to. People often choose to be alone to try and figure out exactly what to do when they come across a difficult problem to solve. Tupac goes on to talk about his ideas and how they often clashed with others, stating “never compromising but sometimes risky,” meaning he never took the easy road and often disagreed with others. Often strong opinions tend to be overpowering but being too insistent of the world isn’t always fair. He tended to be hazardous with his ideas, there are things that others are blind to and Tupac realized that he was being importunate when stating in the poem, “and that is my only regret.” Tupac was in the depths of solitude because he didn’t accept effortlessness and was always “constantly yearning to be accepted/and from all receive respect.” He let his young heart and old soul work together in order to be in the depths of solitude rather than being lonely. There is a better place than being alone and that’s the depths of solitude. Taking experience and love for the world is just one step towards being in this mental state. Working hard to become a great person and making two personalities work together to create one exceptional person is Tupac’s idea of being in the depths of solitude.

Change
"If you don't like something change it; if you can't change it, change the way you think about it."After reading this quote, I calmed down so much more. Things happen in life that you can't change, but thats no reason to shut out the world and to continue worrying because there are some things you simply can not control. When you do come across something like that, you need to just switch the way you think about it rather then stress over it. Instead of sitting in my room and missing class because I'm simply not used to going to class, why not go to class and try and look at things from a completely different perspective. Rather than get frustrated with the annoying lines for food and the lack of variety at neubig (especially on the ****ing weekends) why not open my taste buds to a new world and try something new.
